Barrier Island House
This summer retreat complete with 270 degree views is sited on a peninsula jutting into marshland and inlets off of the Intracoastal Waterway outside of Wilmington, NC. A modern aesthetic works to create a casual feel with playful circulation patterns and careful integration with the surrounding landscape. Composed of two interlocking volumes, the layout features open and permeable living spaces juxtaposed with more private bedrooms and guest quarters. The exterior is composed of natural cedar siding and latticework screens that provide the green roof, elevated terraces and glass enclosed living rooms, protection from the sun.
