Children's AidBKSK is designing a new 20,000-square-foot facility for the Children’s Aid Goodhue Center in Staten Island. Founded in 1912, the Goodhue Center has served as a vital community anchor for more than a century, providing after-school programs, summer camps, sports and recreational activities, teen programming, and family counseling services.
BKSK’s engagement began with a comprehensive feasibility and planning study conducted in close collaboration with Goodhue Center staff to support the organization’s community-centered educational mission. The project spans from early feasibility through the development of construction documents and is currently pursuing Department of City Planning authorizations. The design supports K–5 after-school and summer camp programming while allowing for future flexibility to accommodate teen after-school use and evolving program needs.
The new facility will include a gymnasium, eight flexible classrooms, administrative offices, and dedicated counseling and program spaces. Located within a larger campus and park-like setting, the center incorporates outdoor program areas and on-site parking, reinforcing its role as a welcoming and adaptable resource for the surrounding community while reflecting the enduring spirit and mission of Children’s Aid.
