This year-round family retreat is perched on a hilltop in Roxbury, CT. It captures distant views toward the south overlooking the rolling hills of Litchfield County. The site of this new house reinforces the historic lot divisions marked by stone walls and is aligned with the existing two-acre apple orchard downhill. The main house and detached garage are simple gabled volumes pulled apart to create an arrival threshold. The layout features an open corner entry and open glazed corners facing south and east towards the view. A wrap around porch extends across the kitchen and dining room and turns to enclose the living room which projects out of the main house with large windows creating a sense of an outdoor room. A series of stone retaining walls allow for a pool located at the walkout cellar level.
