The New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission has approved BKSK’s design for a new commercial building at 144 Spring Street in the SoHo-Cast Iron Historic District. Located at the corner of Spring and Wooster Streets, the two-story project offers a contemporary interpretation of SoHo’s iconic cast iron architecture.

The design features a richly detailed façade composed of ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) panels that are both ornamental and structural, drawing inspiration from nineteenth-century cast iron precedents. Expansive storefront glazing and a scale and massing that respond to the surrounding historic streetscape complete the design.
