BKSK conducted a study and produced a design concept for the commercial, residential and lab buildings of a mixed-use development on the Boston waterfront.  Our design proposal responded to the Fort Point Channel neighborhood’s unique blend of 19th, 20th and 21st century character including remaining brick manufacturing buildings. Collectively, the three new development sites would offer highly desirable places to live, work and visit, melding the Boston Wharf Company’s original vision for the area with our new client’s goals for a mixed-use development that supports the neighborhood’s ongoing evolution. Given their location at the water’s edge we considered the sites with sensitivity gained from deep experience working on waterfronts in this time of necessary climate adaptation, resilient strategy, and sustainable solutions. Our design adds value through a creative concept which maximizes building area while creating a new green destination at the waterfront with ample shared planted spaces.
