The site for this new house is a long north-south ridge that parallels the Hudson River, with the Catskill mountains visible to the west. Two single story structures, shifted slightly and separated by a third two-story cube, were designed to contain three bedrooms, an art studio, and a single-volume living/dining/kitchen space. Each separate rustic cedar-clad wing is carved into by long fenestration strips, placed to capture the views from spots where they can best be appreciated. The experience is one of purposeful participation with the topography, surrounding woodlands and seasonal variety.
