AIA Brooklyn + Queens honors Olmsted Center
AIA Brooklyn + Queens, in collaboration with AIA Staten Island and AIA Bronx, honored our Olmsted Center Annex with a 2017 AIA Brooklyn+Queens Design Award (BQDA) Award of Excellence in the Additions/Renovations category. Located in the heart of Flushing Meadows – Corona Park in Queens, the Olmsted Center Annex was completed in 2014 as Phase I of an expansion and renovation project providing additional program space for the Capital Projects Division of the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. Situated four feet below the FEMA 100-year flood plain, and targeting LEED Gold certification, both phases of this project provided unique opportunities for the use of innovative, pioneering sustainability strategies.
In conjunction with the Design Awards, BQDA has open voting for People’s Choice Awards, now through 6pm on Friday 5/19. Please click here to vote for Olmsted Center Annex. (UPDATE: Olmsted Center Annex won the People’s Choice Award in the Additions/Renovations Category!)
Congratulations to the project team for their award-winning work!
