#BehindTheScenes from last week's shoot at #1GreatJonesAlley – with the video team @timetravlrcreative.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣
⁣
We filmed a conversation between BKSK Partner George Schieferdecker and artist Christine Jetten @studio_christine_jetten, who designed the terra cotta glazes for the facade's fins. Our new building's facade fronting Broadway in the #nohoNYC Historic District features an innovative #terracotta screen that honors the rich terra cotta and cast-iron traditions of its context yet is unabashedly modern. The custom glaze and asymmetrical form of the terra cotta are an expression of modern craft reinventing this historic material.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣
⁣
We love the opportunity to work alongside talented artists like Christine on our projects and are excited to share the conversation in early 2020 - stay tuned!⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣

This year, with our in-house expertise from @bkskinteriors, we hosted a dinner party in our future office space. It was a joyful celebration for BKSK friends and family to gather and create memories in our soon-to-be home! We’re thrilled to announce that the @center4fiction has won an @archpaper design award – in the institutional interiors category!⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣
⁣
The Center for Fiction is the only nonprofit literary organization in the U.S. solely dedicated to celebrating fiction. The Center's new 17,000 sf headquarters houses a circulating collection of 70,000+ fiction titles; a bookstore and cafe; auditorium space for educational programming; terrace bar; expanded meeting areas; flexible workspaces; and administrative support space. Design elements such as 19th century-inspired metalwork, warm natural materials, and lively environmental graphics infuse the space.⁣
⁣
Congratulations to the team and to all of this year’s winners!⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣

Progress photos remind us how valuable this resource is for the Village of Lambaye.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣
If you are looking for a way to impact students and promote a culture of learning and hope, we encourage you to make a donation to this school on #GivingTuesday. Any amount makes a difference and we are grateful for your support.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣

Keep an eye out for more project updates leading up to the opening early next year!BKSK recently completed a renovation of the Laurie M. Tisch Illumination Fund Headquarters in Midtown, expanding upon our original design completed in 2007. To align with the foundation’s mission we engaged local artists and philanthropic organizations to create custom furniture pieces and site-specific art installations.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣
⁣
We added 600 sf and revamped the existing areas in order to create a new cohesive space that celebrates the loft like feeling of the previous intervention. The new design expands the available art space, introduces a new level of visual and acoustic comfort while providing a new layer of residential sensibility introducing natural materials, warm woods, felt and colorful fabrics.⁣⁣
