The Landmarks Preservation Commission has approved BKSK’s design for the office-to-residential conversion of 26 Bleecker Street in the NoHo East Historic District.

Built in 1900–1901 in the Classical Revival style, the building has housed a wide range of uses throughout its history, including clothing manufacturers, furriers, printers, and, most recently, the longtime headquarters of Planned Parenthood of New York City. The approved proposal adapts the historic structure for residential use while preserving its architectural character and supporting the creation of new housing.

As part of the project, BKSK’s design restores the building’s historic cornice and reactivates the ground-floor retail space, reinforcing its contribution to the streetscape and the historic character of the neighborhood. The approval underscores the important role adaptive reuse can play in extending the life of historic buildings while helping meet the evolving needs of New York City.
