Construction Commences at 1740 Broadway

Construction has commenced at 1740 Broadway, marking a major milestone in the transformation of this iconic Midtown building.

BKSK is leading the conversion of the celebrated 1949 office tower at Columbus Circle into a 630,000-square-foot residential building with 420 homes and more than 60,000 square feet of amenities. Originally designed by Shreve, Lamb & Harmon as the headquarters for Mutual of New York (MONY), the building became an icon of postwar architecture, known for its cast-aluminum façade, Weather Star spire, and enduring place in New York City’s architectural and cultural history.

The design reinterprets the tower’s distinctive façade for residential living, introducing custom bronze panels, a new glass-and-metal penthouse addition, and a landscaped courtyard that brings natural light deep into the building. The project will include condominiums, rental residences, wellness and recreation amenities, co-working spaces, sky lounges, and outdoor terraces, creating a vibrant vertical community.

Developed in collaboration with Yellowstone Real Estate Investments, Michaelis Boyd, and Consigli Construction Co., Inc., the project honors one of New York’s architectural landmarks while reimagining it for a new generation of city living.
