2022 Municipal Art Society’s Jane’s Walk Tour of Battery Playscape on May 6th

BKSK is thrilled to announced we are hosting a walking tour of the new Battery Playscape, with Starr Whitehouse, as part of the 2022 Municipal Art Society’s Jane’s Walk. Joan Krevlin (BKSK) and Laura Starr (Starr Whitehouse) will lead the tour, highlighting the design thinking and the collaborative process behind the project. The guided walking tour will take place on Friday, May 6th at 1pm.

The Battery Playscape is located at the tip of Manhattan where land meets sea, locals meet tourists, and the bustle of the city yields to the presence of nature. Ecologically, the site is a dynamic confluence of water and land, including a partly natural-partly constructed coastline that has been altered over time. Conceived after Hurricane Sandy, the 1.5-acre Playscape responds to the site’s past and future flooding by telling the story of resilience, interwoven with play. It’s intentionally flexible framework instills environmental stewardship in children from a young age.
