‘For us and by us’: South Bronx advocates celebrate progress on new community center | Bronx Times
The Bronx Times covered the announcement and celebration last week, of the new H.E.A.rts Community Center redevelopment.
It was the culmination of decade-long advocacy and work by South Bronx Unite, the Mott Haven Port Morris Community Land Trust , Alembic Community Development, and Bagchee Architects. BKSK is proud to be a part of the team that will realize this transformation with the support of NYC Economic Development Corporation, NYC Health + Hospitals and NYC Parks as well as the ongoing work of City Council Deputy Speaker Diana Ayala.
“When the new center is eventually rebuilt, several existing nonprofits intend to make it their future home, including the youth music program UpBeat NYC; Green City Force, which trains young NYCHA residents for green jobs; and Community Health Network, which provides medical, dental and wellness care to over 65,000 New Yorkers.”
