150 Barrow Street Recognized with Brick in Architecture Award

144–150 Barrow Street has been recognized with a Brick in Architecture Award from the Brick Industry Association!

Known as The Keller, the project transforms the 1898 Keller Hotel into a flood-resilient residential development that integrates a restored Italian Renaissance Revival landmark with a new seven-story addition. The project includes 22 residences with penthouses and private terraces, balancing historic character with contemporary design.

The white brick façade was chosen to create a clean, modern expression inspired by early 20th-century Italian modernism, pairing the historic Italian Palazzo with a contemporary international-style addition. Tall soldier-course spandrels echo the original stone belt courses, while deep 12-inch brick returns and layered detailing give the façade a modern, abstract depth. The brick’s subtle texture and multicolored spotting add warmth and craftsmanship, allowing the building to feel both contemporary and rooted in the West Village context.

Modern and historic buildings stand side by side, partially framed by leafy green trees under a clear blue sky. The architecture features both classic and contemporary styles.
