LPC Approval for 144 Spring Street

A modern, two-story building with large glass windows, gray lattice trim, and a clothing store inside, located on a city street corner with older brick buildings in the background.

The New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission has approved BKSK’s design for a new commercial building at 144 Spring Street in the SoHo-Cast Iron Historic District.

Located at the corner of Spring and Wooster Streets, the two-story project offers a contemporary interpretation of SoHo’s iconic cast iron architecture. The design features a richly detailed façade with ornamental ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) panels inspired by nineteenth-century cast iron precedents, expansive storefront glazing, and a scale and massing that respond to the surrounding historic streetscape. The project reflects BKSK’s approach to designing new architecture that responds thoughtfully to the character of historic contexts. Stay tuned for further project updates!
