BKSK Becomes a Passive House Accelerator Partner

BKSK Architects has joined Passive House Accelerator as an Accelerator Partner, expanding our ongoing engagement with the Passive House community and our work in high-performance design.

The partnership builds on BKSK’s approach to integrating energy efficiency, airtightness, thermal performance, and mechanical strategies into the design process from the outset. Our experience includes both new construction and adaptive reuse, as well as projects ranging from multifamily residential buildings to single-family retrofits.

One example is Charlotte of the Upper West Side, a nine-story condominium and the first residential project within a New York City landmark district to be certified as a Low Energy Building by the Passive House Institute. The project uses a high-performance envelope, triple-pane windows, and carefully integrated shading to support energy performance, daylighting, and thermal comfort.

BKSK has also applied Passive House principles to the retrofit of a single-family home in the Hudson Valley, demonstrating how strategies such as continuous insulation, an airtight envelope, and thermal-bridge-free detailing can be adapted to existing buildings.

Through the partnership, BKSK looks forward to continuing to share knowledge and engage with a broader community working to advance high-performance, energy-efficient design.
